“Arresting, tantalising, intriguing? Mosaics make an immediate impact on our aesthetic selves. Through obvious craftsmanship they invite both touch and vision and rouse our deepest sense-memories" Commissions: Nathalie Vin Fine Art Mosaics provoke critical thinking, reflection, debate. They ask questions of us such as “Where are we going?” We might ask questions of them such as “What is she trying to say?” Either way, they demand our engagement. By including a Nathalie Vin mosaic in your plan you are opting for the highest quality of materials and production, the latest in technique and design, and assuring yourself of a top-class feature fit to grace any institution, facility or communal environment. Nathalie Vin and her team create bespoke mosaics for residential, public and commercial settings and offer design, production and installation on projects large or small for production in situ, or in studio for installation on site. Nathalie provides input at the design stage to any level required, either undertaken solely by Nathalie or working to a totally client-prepared design. Earliest adoption of her input means Nathalie can realistically assess your range of options, advise on scope, materials, technical difficulty etc., with all the cost reduction that entails. Nathalie’s team can be commissioned to work on any type of shape, on surfaces rough or smooth, in 2D or 3D, indoor or outdoor, or if you have a mad vision tell her about it…. Indoor examples could be: floors, walls, porticoes, friezes, columns, ceilings, doors… Outdoor examples could be: pathways, benches, frescoes, murals, renovations of statuary… Pricing: Any mosaic work is priced per square meter and ranges from £1900 to £6000 per square meter, depending on the following factors: • Level of intricacy of the design £1,900 per square meter: The necessary tiles for work at this price will be largely pre-cut. Level of design intricacy will not be affected because I cannot create designs without my own vision at the core of them, but the utilisation of pre-cut tiles does reduce the complexity and refinement of the finish. To most eyes, this will look like a mosaic; the high-quality but usual mosaic in projects of this type. (This is what the majority of mosaic artists currently offer.) £3,000 per square meter: At this price I will be able to incorporate a proportion of hand-cut, individually sculpted tiles or tesserae. Use of these tiles allows far greater matching of mosaic to design – they can be applied to a much higher degree of tolerance and thus the finish is more exquisite and special. £4,000 per square meter: At this price I am able to use largely hand-cut, individually sculpted tiles. Numbers of pre-cut or manufactured tiles will be minimal so the final effect will be unique, bespoke and a talking point far into the future. £6,000 per square meter: At this price any known mosaic technique is available including micro-mosaic where each tile is hand-cut to an incredible degree of intricacy. Please see FREE AS THE AIR, the commission for Luton Hoo hotel for an instance of this technique’s application - 70,000 circular tiles were used ranging from 18mm in diameter down to less than 1mm. The per square meter fee does not include the cost of installation, which is charged at £350 per day
